Spring Equinox- Observances & Traditions for the Modern Mystic

Writer's picture: Oracle Of DelphiOracle Of Delphi

The Full Moon aligns with the vernal equinox, in the northern hemisphere, this year on March.20th 2019. Spring introduces us to a midpoint, both night and day are in perfect balance and harmony. We can begin to witness additional daylight, a warm welcome following winter. It is the third and final supermoon of the year, which makes the moon appear bigger and brighter! I can’t complain about that, as I love looking up at the night sky, soaking in the vibrancy of the star system. This vivid and beautiful cosmic conjuncture will kick off Aries season! Below are a few of my personal insights for this dynamic expansion.

Savoring Springs Blooms & Buds Readily accept and gift spring flowers as an invitation of abundance for all. Whether you visit your local floral boutique, or saunter through nature, spring flowers bring promise and new beginnings. Having them in your home can clear away stagnant energy from winter

. Some of my favourite spring florals are Daffodil, Peonies, & Crocus. Daffodils are reputed for drawing in love, fertility, and luck. Adding a bouquet of peonies to your home will help ward off evil spirits. You can also reference clearing away old ideas, patterns, and outdated social conventions that you may be holding onto. Using the energy of peony can assist in transforming limiting beliefs, as the blossoms unfurl themselves magnificently, we do as well. If part of your spring “seeds” that you wish to blossom, include love, crocus will be your friend.

When gathering from the great outdoors, please be aware of your local guidelines. I find importance in understanding if plants are endangered, at risk, and if you have the right to pick them. One of my practices is to use photography when out venturing and discovering new plants. Snap a photo, and learn about the plant, before you pick it. Always honouring and respecting the plant, as you do so, and giving thanks back to the earth.

Earth Meditation Spending quality time outdoors, and in nature has a positive influence on our health. There are numerous benefits associated with simply breathing fresh outdoor air, deeply and soundly.

When immersed in nature, find a comfortable area, where you feel at peace, and able to relax. Enjoy deep breaths. Strong inhales and exhales that fill and completely empty your lung capacity. Let go of all stagnant air tucked away in the crevices of your energy body. Engaging with our senses, as best we may be able to.

Where does your sense of smell take you on a journey to? Is it the muddy earth beneath you, wet leaves, or crisp water flow. Just as the earths buds are looming beneath the earths surface, green, bright and ready- we too have seeds that are ready to emerge.

Let your imagination, insight, and intuition show you what is beneath the earths surface, and how the beautiful dimensions above are eagerly awaiting spring patiently.

Ready for Spring in all its splendour.

Magical Gardening

Make the most of springs energy by growing and planting seeds. There are so many different plants, and marvellous herbal allies! If you do not have access to a garden, consider your nearest community garden, or potted plants. These also make wonderful gifts. When you plant the seeds, envision what you wish to grow. Nurturing these seeds, and witnessing their growth will connect you to the earth and your deepest dreams and desires. Consider purchasing flowers that attract bees; such as bees balm, goldenrod, butterfly bush, lavender, or purple coneflower just to name a few.

Take this time during Spring to get into a slow and tranquil reawakening, realigning your rhythm with that of nature.

Wishing you a blessed and bright Spring Equinox!
